That’s it! After you return your container our team scans, washes, and sanitizes your container so it can be used again and again. Your ReusePass account will update to reflect your return within 24-48 hours.

Reduce Waste

95% of plastics don't get recycled–even if you throw them in the blue bin! Instead, most single-use plastics end up in our oceans and landfills and bodies. Each time you choose to reuse, one less container goes to landfill.

Avoid Emissions

The production of single-use containers, even compostable ones, is a resource-intensive process. Each time you reuse, one less container needs to bemanufactured, shipped overseas, and delivered to your campus.

Save Water

Yes, reuse requires washing. However, this sanitization process uses less water than is required for the production of a new single-use container.

College campuses generate over 13 billion pounds of trash annually. Over 20% of the waste is from food packaging, which contributes to the country's third-largest source of emissions — landfills. Landfills are a main source of two main climate change causing gases; methane and carbon dioxide.

Compostables are highly resource-intensive to manufacture and due to limited access to composting facilities often end up in landfills, resulting in the release of high amounts of methane and carbon dioxide.

Reusable containers are NOT microwaveable. We use RFID technology to check containers back in and microwaves damage the chips. If you need to reheat your food, please empty your food into a microwaveable container.

Containers that are shown under the “Due soon” section of your ReusePass account are containers you have recently checked out that are still within the 3-day checkout window and have not yet been scanned in by a team member.

Containers that have not been returned by the end of the 3-day checkout window will be marked as late. Don’t worry, late doesn’t mean charged! Once a container is late, you have 48 hours to return it. Containers that are not received by the end of the late window will be liable for a $5.00 charge. Charges will be deducted from student accounts two weeks after the checkout window was opened.

Late charges will be processed two weeks after the checkout window was opened. Dining Dollars will be charged first, and if not sufficient or not available, the charge will be added to your student bill.
